Our Challenge

Ugandan children face several challenges when it comes to education. Firstly, poverty is a significant barrier, as many families cannot afford to send their children to school.

Secondly, there is a lack of infrastructure, with many schools lacking basic facilities such as classrooms, desks, and textbooks.

Additionally, there is a shortage of qualified teachers, and those that are available may not receive adequate training or support. Finally, cultural and gender biases may also limit educational opportunities for children, particularly girls, who may be expected to prioritize household chores or early marriage over schooling.

Our Programs

Overall Boys vs Girls participation at Pamoja events

At Pamoja, we currently primarily train boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 17 years old. Through community engagement we are seeing a shift in the demographic with more young girls joining our programs for sports, outdoor activities, and soon arts & crafts.

To better serve our community, we're focused on engaging more young girls in our programs and providing activities that align with their interests. We are proud that over 80% of children come back to Pamoja on a weekly basis.
