Empowering girls, empowering change.

One of the major reasons (young) females in Uganda have limited access to education is due to gender-related inequalities and cultural norms. Societal expectations and traditional gender roles often prioritize household responsibilities and early marriage for girls, leading to their limited participation in formal education.

In many Ugandan families, girls are expected to take on domestic tasks, such as cleaning, cooking, and taking care of younger siblings. These responsibilities are demanding and time-consuming, making it challenging for girls to attend school regularly.

Additionally, economic constraints and insufficient financial means push families to prioritize investing in education for boys over girls, further exacerbating the gender gap in education.

Pamoja's efforts to address these challenges include advocacy for girls' education and providing access to safe and inclusive sports and educational environments. With the help of Pamoja, Ugandan communities, can work towards ensuring that young females have equal opportunities to pursue their education and reach their full potential.

A major barrier for providing education to youth is cost related. Pamoja programs are free for all participants.

The percentage of girls participating in Pamoja programs compared to the total number of participants.

Pamoja started of with monthly soccer tournaments during our first 4 years of operations. Initially, this attracted mainly boys. Since 2022 we began diversifying our activities and we are now at a 30+% girl participant ratio.

Pamoja's story is one we write together, a story of resilience, empowerment, and transformation. Let's keep scripting chapters that inspire generations to come.
